Multiple departments, such as building maintenance and direct operations, make up a hospitality unit like a restaurant, hotel, or amusement park (servers, housekeepers, porters, kitchen workers, bartenders, management, marketing, and human resources etc.). According to common law, a hotel is a place where someone who behaves appropriately and is able and willing to pay for their entertainment, lodging, and other facilities, including boarding, can stay as a temporary home. It's a home away from home with all of the latest conveniences and services available for a fee.
A hotel is a form of accommodation that is rented on a short-term basis. Large suites with larger, higher-quality beds, a dresser, a fridge and other kitchen facilities, upholstered chairs, a flat screen television, and en-suite bathrooms may be offered. Smaller, lower-cost hotels can only have the most basic of guest services. Additional guest amenities can include a swimming pool, business centre (with computers, printers, and other office equipment), childcare, conference and event facilities, tennis or basketball courts, gymnasium, restaurants, day spa, and social function services at larger, higher-priced hotels.
To help guests locate their bed, hotel rooms are normally numbered (or named in some smaller hotels and B&Bs). Custom-decorated rooms are available in several boutique, high-end hotels. Some hotels provide meals in their room and board packages. The majority of hotels are managed by a General Manager who acts as the chief executive (often referred to as the "Hotel Manager"), department heads who oversee various departments within the hotel (e.g., food service), middle managers, administrative staff, and line-level supervisors.
Hotel ownership and management firms also define the organizational chart and volume of job roles and hierarchy, which varies by hotel size, role, and class. Hotels can be found in almost every city. Hotel rooms are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While other tangible determinants such as space, food, and beverages are equally important tangible determinants, service is the most important factor that determines a guest's attitude toward a hotel.
The Idea of a Motel Originally, the word "motel" referred to a place where local motorists and international visitors could stay while travelling by car. They cater to the needs and requirements of these travellers, as well as satisfying their transit and lodging needs. Parking, garage facilities, accommodations, and restaurant facilities are only a few of the essential services provided by motels. Over the last decade, India's business opportunities have grown, as have room rates and occupancy levels. In Asia Pacific, India's hotel industry is just second to China's success storey. According to the World Travel and Tourism Board, India ranks 18th in business travel and will soon be in the top five. The new model for development and growth, which is special to India, is one of the country's biggest success stories.
Over the next two years, the Indian hotel industry's room rates are expected to increase by 25% annually, with occupancy increasing by 80%. ‘India's hotel industry is improving its competitiveness as a low-cost destination. In many places, hotels are important attractions for tourists who carry more purchasing power than locals and who prefer to spend more while they are away from home. Hotels also contribute significantly to local economies through visitor spending, both directly and indirectly through the subsequent distribution of visitor expenditure to government offers and other beneficiaries in the region.
Hotels are also important foreign currency earners in areas with a lot of foreign tourists, and they can help their countries' balance of payments a lot. Hotels can be one of the few primary sources of foreign currency earnings in countries with restricted export opportunities. For locals, hotels are an important source of amenities. Many local customers frequent their restaurants, bars, and other services, and many hotels have evolved into social hubs for their neighbourhoods. Hotels are also significant distribution points for other industries' goods. The construction industry and associated trades benefit from the construction and modernization of hotels. A broad variety of manufacturers provide equipment, furniture, and furnishings to hotels. In 2019, the total annual revenue per room was $12,400 INR ($1.7 billion). Revenues will drop by 48% in 2020 YOY following COVID, but the industry will rebound sharply in 2021 and 2022, fueled by domestic leisure tourism. Because of an increasing pipeline from bigger brands and inventory reduction in unbranded hotels due to COVID, the organised sector's share is expected to rise from 5% in 2019 to 8% in 2025. As a result, it is better to invest in this project due to demand.
